I am always very grateful for the support we have from our families with regards to school uniform. Our children always look smart. As our vision TEAM Scawby encourages: Together Everyone Achieves More; we know that children collectively wearing similar clothing means that our school community can come together to identify as one. In having a uniform; children are not singled out. It certainly saves time for parents in the morning too in deciding what their children should wear that day! 

From September 2021, we will have two aspects to our school uniform -  a general uniform and a PE uniform. Please do not feel this will be an increase in costs - it may even make uniforms more cost effective for you. 

General Uniform

Our general uniform consists of:

• Charcoal trousers, shorts, skirts or pinafores 
• White shirt, blouse or white polo top
• School tie clip
• Scawby sweatshirt or cardigan
• Black shoes

PE Uniform

The main change to our policy is the introduction of a PE Uniform. From September; as a school we will continue to ask that children come in PE uniform on their PE days. The Covid pandemic led us to trial this so as to avoid children mixing garments up and thus increasing the chances of a possible spread of the virus. We have found that it reduces chances of garments getting lost and more importantly, enables us to extend our PE sessions as we waste less time getting changed. Clearly, the more time being active is more beneficial for children. However, I would like to stick to our general uniform values. So the PE uniform should consist of:

• Trainers
• White/red polo top/t-shirt or Team Scawby polo top
• Black/charcoal leggings, joggers or shorts
• School Sweatshirt or Team Scawby hoodie or zip top

Children may bring in a different top but this will be only changed into during the PE session. Additionally, children can bring a change of shorts which they may change into for the PE lesson.

Wellington Boots

The other addition to our school uniform is to request that all children have a pair of wellies that can be kept in school. We have previously communicated that we are adopting the OPAL principles of play in September where children will be able to use the school field all year round in order to maximise the quality of play in school whilst also providing greater opportunities to be active at school. Wellies can be sourced cheaply from shops such as ASDA, Sports Direct, Go Outdoors and Amazon. There are many offers available on Ebay too. If any parents have any good quality children’s wellies that no longer fit, please send them in so that we can pass them on to other children. 

Hair

We ask that long hair is tied back for PE lessons. Hair accessories should be minimal please. Children wearing ‘fancy dress’ type headbands will be asked to remove them when in school. Extreme haircuts such as bright colours are not allowed. 

Earrings

Ideally, any children wearing earrings should be old enough to remove them for PE. If this is not possible then parents and carers should remove earrings on PE days. Loop or hoop earrings are not permitted in school. Please only allow children to wear studs in school. The final note on earrings is that we politely ask if piercings could be done in the summer holidays? This reduces many problems in removing them for PE lessons. Surgical tape to cover earrings is not ideal as painful accidents can still happen if studs are knocked against ears by a ball for example. 

New To You

We do often hold some good quality clothing which has been passed on from families so please do get in touch with the office to enquire whether we have any clothing in the appropriate sizes.

* From your home page navigate to School Shop. 

* Select the item you wish to purchase.

* Select ‘Buy Product’
   - If you are purchasing PE T shirts or Hoodies please add a Note specifying how you wish the item to be personalised. If you do not wish any personalisation please state this in the Note section.   For example: Personalise with MP or NO personalisation required.
* Click ‘Add to basket or Pay now’.

Your order will then be received at the school office and will be processed and sent home as soon as it is available.   If there are any issues, please contact the school office.
